The New Face of Chanel

According to media reports, EMMA WATSON (aka Harry Potter's Hermione) is odds-on favourite to be the French fashion house's new face, with an announcement expected imminently. The young lass has recently been seen in array of slinky Chanel couture frocks. The Daily Mail is also reported that Watson has signed up with Storm model agency

This little diva is headed for big things! Not that she needs the money. Apparently she's getting 5 million for the next 2 Harry Potter films.

She'll be wearing fingerless gloves and partying with Karl and Lindsay in no time at all.

What's So Good About Yves Saint Laurent?

After hearing that Yves Saint Laurent is on his death bed in Paris, I thought it might be interesting to take a look at what made the designer one of the most influential of the last 100 years.

Yves Saint Laurent began his career working under Christian Dior. In 1957 when Dior died, Yves (at the age of 21) was given the task of resurrecting the failing fashion house. He took on the task with great vigor, bringing the house back from financial ruin. Then, out of the blue, he was conscripted to the army. For a gentle homo like Yves this was a disaster. After 20 days of intense hazing by fellow recruits, Yves suffered what in those days, would have been called a nervous breakdown. He was hospitalized and eventually recovered.

It was in the wake of this disaster that Yves reinvented himself and began what many consider the most creative time of his life. Because of his breakdown he was released from Dior, thus allowing him to start his own label YSL.

So what makes Yves such an important figure in fashion?

Well for starters, without him ready-to-wear would not be what it is today. Yves was the first, in 1966, to popularize ready-to-wear in an attempt to democratize fashion, with Rive Gauche and the boutique of the same name.

He was also the first designer to use black models in his runway shows.

He also created what is said to be the most famous classic tuxedo suit for women in 1966, Le Smoking suit.

The Mondrian day dress, autumn 1965, was one of Yves most popular designs.

During the 1960s and 1970s, YSL was critical in popularizing fashion trends such as the Beatnik look.

In 1993 the Saint-Laurent fashion house was sold to the pharmaceuticals company Sanofi for approximately $600,000,000! Then in 1999 Gucci bought the brand.

Yves has spent the last few years living in Morocco.

His influence will be forever remembered.

Masha's Coming For ya!

Big mistake Georgie! You really shouldn't have bad mouthed her in your last post. Masha may look harmless, but it's all an act. I heard she broke 3 of Gemma Ward's ribs just for looking her in the eyes. And you know why she gets so much work? Cos designers are too scared not to use her. Apparently she once ripped out one of John Galliano's kidneys with her bare hands and ate it in front of him, simply because he didn't send her out first in his last show.

Don't come running to me for help when Masha shows up. I hear she knows 3 types of karate and once murdered the host of Ukrainian's 'Top Model' because she didn't choose her for the show. They don't call her Masha the Smasher for nothing!

Jonathan and Kevin... the Movie

Ahhhhh, this thing is hilarious. I just found this video featuring Jonathan and Kevin, the twin male models I mentioned in the last post. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen. They look like their about to pash each time they turn around to face each other. It's kind of hot and creepy at the same time. I don't know what to feel, I'm so conflicted. Think I just found something new to discuss with my therapist.

Double the Trouble

These two hottie McTottie's, Johathan and Kevin, are the most in demand twin male models in the world at the moment. According to COACD, they've just been chosen to represent Dior Homme.

I wouldn't have thought there would be that much competition for twin models, especially male ones, but I apparently there is. Wouldn't it be cool to use them in a runway show, one after the other. People would think it was the fastest clothes change in the world.

Wonder if you get a good rate for booking both of them? Buy one get one free?

How HOT is American Apparel?

I am quietly obessed with American Apparel- love the idea of awesome basics in a huge variety of colours and styles. And the campaign images are fucking HOT, they are all shot by creator Dov Charvey. His unique eye and the use of everyday (albeit very good looking) models is fresh and appealing. THUMBS UP DOV!

*my dream guy above- where do you go my lovely?

This One's For Georgie

Georgie often gets compared to a pug dog. I don't know why. Maybe it's because she's cute as button and not yet house trained. Whatever the reason, she's one cute bitch and I love her to bits.

Charlotte Gainsbourg for Paper Mag

One of my favorite magazines is Paper Magazine. And one of my favorite ladies at the moment is Charlotte Gainsbourg (she's the daughter of French singer Serge Gainsbourg). So you can imagine how super excited I was when I saw that Paper mag were shooting her for their next cover. And even better, they've put a behind the scenes video of the shoot on their website. Not much happens in it, but it's still an interesting look behind the lens at a fashion shoot. Plus the music is dreamy and relaxing. Enjoy.
