The iphone vs the Prada Phone

As I sit here writing this, the iphone has been on sale for all of 1 hour and 22 minutes. And while I would give both my testicles and my right kidney to own one, I thought we'd take a look at the only other phone clipping its heels behind it...

The Prada Phone was released to the public in March (admittedly not to the same fan fare that surrounded the iphone) but then often the coolest things don't immediately get noticed by the establishment.

The reason the Prada phone is such a competitor to the iphone is that it too has a touch sensitive screen (it is actually the first phone to have one) and most of the features the iphone has (2mb camera, mp3, wifi, stylish design). But what really gives sets the Prada phone apart is simply the fact that it's a Prada phone. Because at the end of the day 'cool' always wins. And the Prada phone is so danm hot that if it was a model, Steve Bing would have impregnated it by now.

And while the iphone isn't about to suddenly become (gasp) uncool, one look at the people lining up outside the Apple store in NYC yesterday is enough to make you wonder, for at least a moment, which one you'd rather be associated with...

Marc Moves On

Poor old Jason Preston. He must be thinking it's a good time to investigate the advances in laser tattoo removals, because after he sees these photos of his ex-boyfriend, Marc Jacobs, I don't think he'll be holding out much hope for another reconciliation. Marc's found a new buttboy by the name of Ronny Giangualano. He's a 20-year old from Toronto that Marc meet on Myspace (click his name to see his profile).

What I don't get is why does Marc have to troll Myspace for talent? Surely he'd have the phone numbers of every hot model in the world at his fingertips? Maybe he wants someone with substance. And really what better way to find your soul mate than through an exchange of comments on each others Myspace pages.

Mo Money, Mo Ugly

The International Herald Tribune has a great article about how luxury brands are raising the bar with items worth more than the GDP of most small African countries. The hideous patchwork handbag, by Louis Vuitton, is made up of old handbags from the brand. At a price tag of $40,000, this thing makes no sense whatsoever. Don't poor people, who can't afford to buy new clothes, make patchwork pants and blankets out of their old clothes? Since when did recycled fashion become so expensive?

Remember that ad for the Yellow Pages where that animated monster would eat all the old books? Well, if there was a fashion version of him, this hand bag is what he'd throw up if he got gastro.

And if you think the bag was bad, check out this pen from MontBlanc. Even though it looks like something you'd find in a Lord of the Rings show bag, it has a price tag of $700,000! Apparently it's adorned with rubies, sapphires and diamonds and took 15 months to handcraft. Perfect for every billionaire grand wizard.

Model of the Month

Ok, so last time I did a poll asking who our new model of the month should be I didn't get the most conclusive response. In fact it was so split down the middle, it made Switzerland look like The U.S. So this Month, I've taken a cunningly clever approach and picked two models for you to vote for.

Model No.1 is Jamie Dorman. You may recognize him from his recurring role inside Keira Knightley's vagina. Yes, it's true he was once poking old 'Jaw face' Knightley. But don't hold that against him, cos they did break up (surely he dumped her) and now he's on to bigger and better things, like...hmm gosh, I don't know, but I'm sure he finds something to fill his time in between featuring in Calvin Klein ads and just being hot. Perhaps Sudoku!

Our second fella is Hugo Suazay. I don't know much about him other than that he has also featured in Calvin Klein ads and is also v. hot. Oh and he's French, which surely adds points to his sexy-o-meter.

So here we go. The power is in your hands dear readers, don't fuck it up. And let the voting begin.

Magazine Thursday-HE Mag

Oscar Wilde once said 'Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months'. And we certainly aren't immune to this type of ugliness. In fact we embrace it whole heartedly. So when we find something (god forbid) new, we can't wait to introduced it our readers.

He Magazine is a men's fashion mag that have just released their 4th issue. It's full of hot boys wearing hot clothes (something that Georgie and I believe should be a part of every healthy diet). Plus it's full of interviews with interesting people like cover boy Casey Spooner (he's one half of Fischerspooner). Check it out online.

This One's For Georgie

Dear G,

You mentioned in your last 'this one's for tom' post that my two favorite things in the world were Tetris and Japanese men. While I don't know how accurate that may be, I reckon I have a pretty good idea of your favorite things...

Can you resist the power of Hippo and Turtle's love?

I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Ah, shucks, even Anna Wintour would crack a smile at the sight of these two.

'The couple that snuggle together, stay together'.

Hermes Wall Street Store Opening

The opening of Hermes' Wall street store last night, brought out the who's who of N.Y. fashion. Our obsession Chloe Sevingy, Rachael Weisz (wearing Oscar de la Renta- tish tish) and even Kevin Bacon did their best to pretended they were there for more than just the free booze and gift bag.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedwick show their gratitude for finally being noticed in public.

Chloe Sevigny shows everyone else how it's really done. Umm, MMM! Hermes has never looked so hot!

What the hell is going on with that vest buddy? How many black alligators had to die for you to look like a chump in front of Chloe? But seriously that thing is HIDEOUS. It looks like something you'd find a crazy bum wearing, with nothing on underneath, as he screamed at a flower bush for trying to steal his thoughts. Chloe is obviously desperate to get away from this floppy haired disaster.

"Up, Up and away!" Lee Lee Sobieski just couldn't seem to get her jumpsuit above her bra.

This is what happens when you've been collecting 19th century French dolls for too long- you start to look like one. And they say black is flattering. That may be true but it tends to have the opposite effect when you're wearing 27 layers of it. Lynn Yaeger from The Village Voice must need some sort of pulley contraption, rigged up in her loft, to get all that off at night. Crazy.
This well drawn illustration explains quite clearly how the layer remover works. Trust me, in a few months this thing will be a big hit with the over 50's artistic crowd.

This one's for Tom

Tom, your two loves reunited in one magical clip.
Tetris and Japanese men! ENJOY...

Sunset Tan

Reality TV can be a sordid selection of viewing and as much as I would like to deny the fact I think I am addicted to the E! Channel.

How I loved Blow Out, Bridezillas and the Hills (Seasons 1 & 2) and now about to be shown in Australia- Sunset Tan- ABSOLUTE GOLD. Where else but from the U.S would you find a show that documents the secret to Britney and Lindsay's golden tans (P.S. it's a cocktail- 12 mins in the bed followed by a mystic spray tan)

Fashion Emergency

According to TMZ.com Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigel is getting into the celebrity designer business and releasing a range of fashionable hospital scrubs.

"Heigl may not be a doctor, but she plays one on TV, and has decided to get into the celeb fashion biz by launching a clothing line -- of medical scrubs and healthcare industry uniforms! Nurse! The Katherine Heigl Collection will feature designs "appropriate for women of all ages who work in hospitals, private residences, clinics, dental offices, labs, spas and other healthcare environments." Perfect for the code red carpet! Most items in the catastrophic couture line are priced under $25 and will be "available this fall in retail outlets, online stores and catalogues selling women's medical apparel."

Just what the health industry has been crying out for- designer scrubs. But I guess at the end of the day most surgeons would rather get there Katerine Heigel scrubs covered in blood and guts before their Prada scrubs.

I think a quote a reader left on TMZ.com sums it up best-

"We're talking cheap, ugly, ill-fitting clothes -- how is this any different from Sarah Jessica Parker's clothing line?"
